UPM requires its suppliers to pack all products properly to withstand handling, transport and storage conditions. Our suppliers are expected to follow our instructions regarding packaging methods, materials and labelling of products.
We also encourage our suppliers to minimize the amount of packaging material and promote the use of recyclable and environmentally sound materials, without compromising the agreed standards of packaging.
We require all products delivered to units in Europe to be packed with materials complying with the key requirements of the EU Packaging directive (94.62 EC as amended), ISPM 15 standard and the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) and relevant national ordinances.
All pallets shall carry the IPPC stamp and meet the requirements of ISPM 15 Solid Wood Packaging Standard.
The packaging of electronic components must comply with IEC 61340-5-1 standards.
