Agnieszka, Team Leader, Technical Support Team, UPM Business Hub Wrocław

My adventure with UPM started in 2010. At first, I worked as a Quality Control Operator in one of our factories near Wrocław, then I became the leader of the laboratory team.

A few years later, in 2017, I was promoted to Quality Engineer. The thing that I’ve always liked about working at UPM, right from the very start, is its Scandinavian work culture – honest, open communication, friendly relationships between team members, eagerness to share knowledge and experience with new employees – and the great emphasis placed on environmental protection and sustainable production. The company values align well with my views and ideas, which gives me a strong foundation for building long-term relationships and engagement in my professional life. I am motivated to act, to continue my personal development and take on new challenges.

After coming back from maternity leave in 2020, I was given an opportunity to join the newly formed Technical Support Team, responsible for handling complaints from our European clients. Changing my job role allowed me to broaden my technical knowledge of our product (laminates), to build a lot of interesting client relationships and collaborate with an international group of experts (all this while taking care of two toddlers!). Since 2021, I have held the position of Team Leader in our team of six, and I’ve been responsible for providing technical training to our new employees, among other things. The current role gives me a lot of satisfaction because I can share my knowledge with other people. Although everyone at first thinks our product is just a “regular label”, there is an interesting story behind it – from the production process to end-consumer use. Seeing our new employees get involved in it and then become real specialists, who provide professional client support, is very fulfilling.

Our team is relatively “young”, its members are of different ages and work from various European countries, but despite the distance and pandemic restrictions we have managed to build strong relationships with one another. You can see that not only during times of crisis, when we come together to support those in need, but also in everyday work situations.

I believe that people and their potential are every company’s greatest asset. Along with mutual respect, trust and development opportunities they create foundations for building a long-term relationship that benefits both sides. My career at UPM started in technical roles, now as Team Leader I am focusing on my team management skills. And I don’t think it’s my finishing line, as I can see plenty of opportunities ahead of me at UPM.
