The function consists of different areas of expertise – brand and communications, responsibility, and public and media relations – and uses its combined know-how to deliver competitive advantage to UPM.

UPM Finance & Control is an expert organisation committed to delivering operational efficiency and value improvement for UPM businesses and UPM Group. F&C is formed of Finance Operations, and Business Control and F&C Development.
Finance Operations delivers financial accounting, reporting and compliance at UPM. Business Control partners with UPM businesses to drive profitable growth. Development team provides enablers for improving the efficiency, effectiveness and experience of F&C service delivery.

UPM IT is a high-performing, innovative and value-driven community strengthened by IT professionals from suppliers.
IT ensures business continuity and improves productivity by maintaining business-critical IT services. UPM Sourcing is responsible for maintaining a supplier base that can deliver cost competitive, innovative and sustainable material and service solutions to UPM businesses globally. Sourcing function consists of proactive, business minded professionals who are experts on the supply markets. By applying sourcing expertise, business insight and supply market knowledge, Sourcing organization advances UPM businesses' profitability and growth.
Continuous development work with over 25,000 material and service suppliers ensures efficiency, transparency and responsibility of the whole supply chain. The environmental, social and economic risks are assessed globally and at supplier level. With selected suppliers, Sourcing is building strategic long-term co-operation to optimize cost and quality, not forgetting sustainability and innovation.
Human Resources (HR) proactively develops capabilities and culture that enable business success. It brings people topics to business and decision making, provides services, processes and tools for managers and employees to their daily tasks, development, rewarding and well-being at work.
HR function consists of different areas of expertise. Business HR is the HR partner for management teams, managers, and employees. Group HR creates and develops UPM wide people related concepts and processes for e.g. resourcing and safety. HR Services delivers e.g HR administrative and payroll services to all UPMers.

We create value by delivering ground-breaking solutions, fostering strategic partnerships and making smart investments on our exciting path towards a future beyond fossils.
The function has several focus areas including e.g. UPM Biochemicals, UPM Biofuels, UPM Biocomposites, UPM Biomedicals, Investment Management, Research and Development (R&D), as well as Technology Strategy and New Business Development. Moreover, UPM has three research centres globally.
