We take a holistic look at our environmental operations. We aim to constantly reduce both direct and indirect negative impacts, provide training for employees to manage their daily tasks, share best practices and ideate together, and be prepared to take immediate action when needed. 

Full compliance with national and international laws and regulations is also a priority for us - with a goal of zero deviations. Achieving our ambitious 2030 environmental targets requires technological transformation and holistic, forward-looking investment planning. 

Our Clean Run concept complemented with certified management systems allows us to effectively manage and secure continuous improvement in our environmental performance.

UPM's environmental management focuses on continuous identification of our environmental impacts and the setting of ambitious targets to improve our overall environmental performance. We encourage our suppliers to be innovative and actively contribute to achieving our targets, while our products and services enable our customers to reach their goals.

While we have made strides in creating more with less, we believe that our journey has just begun. We envision the circular economy and larger ecosystems as the business model of the future. This means replacing the current linear take-make-dispose model with a sustainable system that utilises renewable and recyclable resources to create more value. This approach not only benefits the environment but also adds value to our products.
